Launch Detroit

What is LaunchDETROIT?

A Committee of the Rotary District 6400 Foundation, LaunchDETROIT strives to develop successful entrepreneurs, especially women, who have limited access to financial and business resources.

Our Mission

To support and develop entrepreneurs and small businesses in under-resourced communities in the Detroit region, by providing access to business loans, business development services, and networking opportunities.

2026 Program update:

October is Community Economic Development Month – Time for an Update on LaunchDETROIT established in 2012 to support the growth of entrepreneurship

LaunchDETROIT, established and spearheaded by Rotary Members in District 6400, is a multi-faceted program that has assisted 103 entrepreneurs since it began in 2012. LaunchDETROIT is comprised of Clubs in Taylor, Trenton, Southgate, Riverview, and Detroit.   Local entrepreneurs who want to start or expand a business receive business classes, mentorship, networking opportunities and micro-loans. LaunchDETROIT Alumni have products on the shelves of major grocery chains, have expanded their businesses, and have joined Rotary Clubs.  Currently, there are two LaunchDETROIT Alumni serving as Club Presidents, Monica Davie at Detroit and Tara McFarland at Southgate. LaunchDETROIT alumni joined Rotary Clubs because we supported their goal of entrepreneurship.

LaunchDETROIT has evolved, entrepreneurs have expressed that their greatest interest is in mentorship, business education, and networking; they receive access to a wealth of information and variety of expertise from Rotary Members.
